Thank you Bruce Rylander

We’re honoring Bruce Rylander for his years of dedicated service as Treasurer of Friends’ Board. His leadership helped strengthen our organization and our work to protect the San Juans.

Bruce Rylander

At Friends of the San Juans, protecting this place requires not only passion and advocacy but also strong leadership behind the scenes. Bruce Rylander played a vital role in that leadership, serving as Treasurer on our Board of Directors for multiple years. His experience, insight, and guidance helped to ensure Friends’ financial strength and resilience.

Bruce’s tenure saw Friends through pivotal moments, from navigating the financial uncertainties of the COVID-19 era to overseeing key transitions that secured our long-term sustainability. His careful stewardship allowed us to continue our vital work protecting the San Juans and the Salish Sea without compromise.

All of us at Friends are profoundly grateful for Bruce’s dedication. His service was more than just a commitment—it was an act of care for the islands, the waters, and the community we all hold dear. As he steps away from his Board role, we want to honor his dedication, his problem-solving mindset, and the lasting foundation he built for the organization’s future.

To Bruce and to all of our members who make this work possible—thank you for being a part of this collective effort to protect this place!

It’s important to us that any organization we are involved with actually gets things done, and the work that the Friends takes on so capably really does make a difference.
