WATCH – Virtual Town Hall: Meet Brent, Our New Executive Director!

Click here to watch the December 16 town hall meeting led by Brent Lyles, our new Executive Director. Brent introduces himself, answers questions from the audience, and shares some highlights of Friends of the San Juans’ recent activities.

Brent comes to Friends with over 20 years of experience leading environmental protection and education efforts. “In my first couple of months on the job, as I’ve really dug in and learned about the Friends’ programming and impact, I’ve been so impressed, not just with the quality and rigor of the work, which is amazing, but also with the strong sense of community and collaboration,” said Brent.

“This is not work that happens in isolation. We can’t do it alone, and we don’t. Here at Friends of the San Juans, not only do we have a long list of organizations and agencies that we are actively partnering with, but we also collaborate with our community,” continued Brent. “This town hall is a chance for Friends of the San Juans to launch a new and open dialogue with our neighbors, and I’m really looking forward to the conversation.”

From the first time we visited the islands, we were awe-struck by the natural beauty of this majestic setting: towering conifers, green meadows, beautiful lakes, forested mountains, all surrounded by the sound! Like any beautiful location, this magical environment could be “loved to death”, which is why it is so important that Friends of the San Juans is there to help us protect what we all love.
