Katherine Dietzman

Shoreline and Mapping Specialist
she/her/hers

Katherine is inspired by the rich coastal ecosystems and communities she works to protect. Katherine grew up on San Juan Island, traveling up and down the Inside Passage and Southeast Alaska on an old wooden forestry vessel, and snorkeling throughout the Salish Sea since her early youth. With a background in Ecological Restoration and Women and Gender Studies, Katherine is fascinated by the intersection of nature and people – working to find the greatest good for all beings. As Shoreline and Mapping Specialist for Friends, Katherine conducts field science, shoreline restoration projects, and creates maps integral to Friends’ work, all while pursuing her graduate degree in Environmental Studies and a graduate certification in GIS.
