Stephanie Solien is a civic activist with over 25 years of experience in politics, government, and nonprofits in Washington, D.C., and Washington State. She’s passionate about working with diverse communities and the political process to drive positive change. She currently serves on advisory boards for Western Washington University’s Salish Sea Institute and Town Hall Seattle’s honorary board. She co-chaired Governor Inslee’s Southern Resident Orca Whale Task Force and was Vice Chair of the Puget Sound Partnership Leadership Council. Stephanie served as national political director for Bill Clinton’s Presidential campaign in 1992. She was Assistant to Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt during the Clinton administration playing a pivotal role in creation of the 1993 Pacific NW Forest Summit that resulted in the Federal NW Forest Plan. She has worked with the US House of Representatives, US Senate, and various organizations focused on conservation and the environment. In 2023, she received the SeaDoc Society’s Octopus Award for her contributions to the Salish Sea’s health. She lives on Orcas Island and loves spending time on and near the water, beaches, wetlands and forests of the Salish Sea.
