Spring and Summer 2025 Volunteer Opportunities
Friday Harbor Labs Open House | Volunteer Support
We’re looking for a few volunteers to help us run our booth at the Friday Harbor Labs Open House! Tasks include helping with activity set-up, welcoming attendees, and engaging the public. A short volunteer orientation will be held on Friday, May 2 (just one hour). Sign Up >

Spring Open House | Event Set-Up + Clean-Up
We’re hosting a community gathering with our friends at Alchemy Art Center—and we need a few extra hands to help set up earlier in the day and clean up after the event. Come celebrate with us while supporting the logistics behind a successful evening! Sign Up >

Spring Open House | Volunteer Event Photographer
We’re also looking for a volunteer photographer to capture the joy and connection of the Spring Open House on May 16. If you love event photography and storytelling through images, we’d love to hear from you. Email [email protected] to sign up.
Communications & Outreach Volunteer – Summer Weekly Shift
Join our team this summer! We’re looking for a volunteer to support communications and outreach in our Friday Harbor office—just two hours a week. Tasks may include data entry, printing or distributing flyers, organizing materials, ordering outreach gear, and reviewing analytics. Bonus if you know Mailchimp, Google Analytics, Canva, Adobe Express, or WordPress—but not required. We are flexible if there are some weeks you need to skip to enjoy the summer! Volunteer Coordination – Summer Weekly Shift
We’re also seeking a detail-oriented helper to support volunteer coordination tasks. Help us manage signups, follow-ups, and spreadsheets! This is also a two-hour weekly opportunity in our Friday Harbor office, with flexibility if you have summer trips planned. Some of the tasks may be performed remotely. Sign Up >
Food + Set-Up Support | Gathering of the Eagle Celebration & Potluck
Help us set up and support food service for this outdoor celebration with Friends! Tasks include event prep, food table set-up, and a little clean-up at the end. Sign Up >

Data Entry Support
Remote or in-person, assist with data entry tasks related to communications and outreach. Excel experience preferred. Sign-Up >
Forage Fish Data and Field Support
Our Shoreline and Mapping Specialist needs some extra help with forage fish surveys and data organization. Assist in the field and the office by collecting samples and organizing data sheets, lab sheets, and photos to help protect beaches used by forage fish.
