Support FRIENDS of the San Juans through Planned Giving.
Its been estimated that nearly 2/3 of Americans do not have a will and many of those that do have a will have not updated it in the past 5 years. If you do not have a will, the government may decide who gets your money, property and other assets. It may, depending on circumstances, also decide who raises your kids, cares for your elderly parents, takes care of your pets, decides how much tax your estate pays and it wont make gifts to charities and nonprofits like FRIENDS of the San Juans.
Our suggested bequest language is:
I give, devise, and bequeath to the Board of FRIENDS of the San Juans, (specific amount, percentage of estate, or property description) for FRIENDS of the San Juans (EIN# 91-1087153).
As the old saying goes ... Where theres a Will, theres a way.
Retirement Plans
You can name FRIENDS of the San Juans as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), or other qualified pension plan, for all or part of the value of the plan. The proceeds of these plans are distributed outside probate and are entirely free from federal estate tax.
